The New Normal: Values + Lifestyle
MARN and Genisx are pleased to announce “The New Normal: Values + Lifestyle”, on Thursday, August 10th 6-8PM at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB

A Sense of Belonging: How Do You Say Your Last Name?
What does “Asian-American” even mean anyway? We’ve put this and other existential questions of identity to a group of esteemed Asian American artists, including Brooklyn author and illustrator Vanessa Nguyen, whose new coloring book, How Do You Say Your Last Name?, explores the duality of growing up as a first-generation Asian kid in America.
Introducing ‘LAO-MKE: Untold Stories’
MARN is excited to present “LAO-MKE: Untold Stories”, an exhibition open from July 14 – July 30, 2023, which celebrates personal accounts from multi-generational Lao families in the pursuit of finding a place to call home. This exhibition comprised of photos, cultural artifacts, objects and an array of artwork highlights the stories of refugees from Laos and the journey to make Milwaukee and Wisconsin their home.

gener8tor Art x Sherman Phoenix Info Session
gener8tor Art x Sherman Phoenix is a program that serves Milwaukee-based creative professionals through professional development workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and grants. Applications for the 7-week accelerator program are open now until July 30th, 2023. Selected participants receive a $10,000 grant, paired with seven weeks of individualized mentorship on how to strengthen the business side of their art practice.

MARN is pleased to announce, Enter the Metaverse, an immersive 7-day journey into the world of Web3 at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB in the heart of Milwaukee’s Third Ward. Milwaukee’s only AI driven hospitality event will feature a captivating NFT exhibition, live A/R demonstrations, cutting-edge technology, engaging panels, and interactive workshops. Our partner for this installation is imnotArt, a global leader in digital/physical experiences and Web3 education. imnotArt has created similar pop-up experiences all over the world, including i.c.stars’ StarBash 2022, in Milwaukee, WI.

MARN and the Edessa School of Fashion are excited to host the Milwaukee Fashion Network on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 6-8PM at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB. Announcing, ZINES ARE QUEER!!
Zines – self-published booklets of any variety – are an accessible means to share, platform, and spread art, information, and education. From 1700’s political pamphlets to the Riot Grrrl movement of the 1990’s, zines time and time again give voice to anti-establishment and anti-capitalist circles often receiving no voice in mainstream media. As queer people refuse to adhere to established ideas of sex and gender, zines refuse to let institutions dictate what is published and shared.
Communal Stamp Workshop with Cam Will
Join local artist Cam Will from 4m – 7pm this Friday, 6/2/2023 at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB Conference Center to design and create a stamp! The stamp will be printed on the Futsal Court at Burnham Park along with the Milwaukee Soccer Community on Saturday, 6/3/2023.
Open Call: Community Arts Program
The mission of the CAP program is to serve as a liaison between our MARN members and corporate initiatives by taking on projects such as art curation, purchasing, and installation within borrower and employee spaces. Facilitating these projects allows our partner businesses the benefit of enjoying original local artwork on a day-to-day basis as well as offering greater exposure and potential future sales for our member artists.

‘Art of Making It’ – MARNmentorship Film Screening & Round Table Discussion
MARN is excited to host a film screening of, ‘The Art of Making it,’ on June 16th, 2023 from 6PM-9:00PM. The film will run between 6:15-7:45PM.
Following the film, MARNmentor Maeve Jackson will moderate a round table discussion with fellow mentors about the ins and outs of the art world. Let’s dig into how to make it as an artist, what running a business looks like and how to get your work out there. Hope to see you there!
Experience MARNmentorship in action
Typically, the magic of MARNmentorship happens behind closed doors. The studio visits, the one-on-one meetings, and the artistic breakthroughs are things that are experienced by the mentors and mentees, but not seen by the public.
However, this month MARN is hosting a series of events at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB where you can learn more about the program, as well as to showcase all that our mentors and mentees can do.
Body Image: conversation and portraiture with Uniquely Milwaukee
Everyone has a body, and everyone has an image of that body built by some combination of our own self-image and the image that society applies to us. For the entire month of April, Radio Milwaukee’s Uniquely Milwaukee podcast explored different aspects of what make up our conception of how our bodies are perceived; from distinct physical traits like hair and height to more complex social paradigms like gender dysphoria and body shaming.

Somewhere in our shared universe, the mysteries of the cosmos and the mundane details of our everyday lives meet. At that meeting point is Bryon Cherry.
The Mentee Talkback takes place from 3-5pm on Saturday, April 29 at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB, located at 191 N. Broadway. Cherry’s poetry and music performance will begin around 4:30pm after the artist discussion.
