In my artistic journey, I explore themes such as identity, gender, intimacy, womanhood, and community, each project driven by a quest to understand the formation of our identities within societal contexts. Recent works delve into the intricate facets of female aging, spotlighting the journey towards self-renewal and the significance of communal support among women. Moreover, I strive to challenge cultural norms surrounding femininity and gender identity, using photography to capture diverse perspectives, particularly focusing on women’s experiences. My overarching goal is to cultivate unity amidst life’s complexities through art, fostering spaces where diversity is celebrated. I aspire to challenge preconceptions, ignite meaningful dialogues, and deepen understanding. Ultimately, art serves as my medium for comprehending humanity’s multifaceted nature.

For many years I had a 75 mile commute to work and I am conflicted about my carbon footprint. These prints, drawings and photographs represent a relative landscape which attempts to reference both a hope for the future and a recognition of a real possibility of eco-catastrophy. Some of these images engage an ominous mobile viewpoint, and others, moments of stillness and reflection. Perhaps what we might see out of the corners of our eyes as we flee... perhaps what we stop to remember???. Among the "stuff" in my studio I have a crow mask, nothing "cultural" just a very generic, plastic representation of a crow head. Until I came to be interested in crows, I had never worn it. Masks can be magical, and trans-forming, even plastic masks. Looking at my own masked reflection, and drawing it opened me to narrative possibilities that inform much of this work.
