Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

MARN is excited to announce a special screening event with Dance For Diversity on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6-8pm at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB (191 N Broadway Milwaukee, WI).

Dance For Diversity is presenting an exclusive Sneak Peek event featuring short, preview screenings of 4 Dance Artists’ solo films that embody their story of identity, as well as highlighting the collaborative process between each of the 4 Choreographer and Cinematographer pairings with special behind-the-scenes footage, and an opportunity to meet some of the Artists in-person.

Dance For Diversity is an annual screendance project series that is made explicitly for Artists of Color to elevate their unique voices and share their stories through their dance-making and performance work. DFD provides a platform for Artists of Color to create an original solo piece on film that reflects who they are, their story of identity, and expresses personal experiences that address (including but not limited to) racial stereotypes, discrimination, and assumptions.

The mission of Dance For Diversity amplifies visibility and creates a consistent platform for BIPOC Artists to center their voices and their stories through their art, while fostering a place of belonging and reclamation of their true identities. DFD’s vision is to give Artists of Color the power to own who they are unapologetically and claim their space onstage and offstage. In service to representation, DFD lifts up the experiences of Artists of Color and provides an opportunity for diverse audience members to see themselves in art as well as learn from the experiences of others.
